Children’s Corner Philosophy :
Children’s Corner exists to provide high quality childcare in a nurturing Christian learning environment utilizing developmentally appropriate practices that are best suited for each child. Children's Corner is a community ministry of Lawton First United Methodist Church.

Children’s Corner Preschool:
Children’s Corner is a Christian Preschool/Mom’s Day Out program. The program accepts children 2 years of age and older. Business hours are Monday through Friday 9 :15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The Children’s Corner calendar follows Lawton Public Schools calendar for holidays and other closings.  All classes are preschool structured.

Smaller class sizes and age appropriate structure are offered for all ages.  Classes are developmentally appropriate and Christian teachings are emphasized. The children attend a weekly children’s worship time in the Chapel. Monthly schedules are flexible with the exception of the Pre-K.

A Pre-K class for 4’s and older is offered in addition to the Preschool format. The Pre-K class operates five days a week. Tuesday and Thursday all day classes or Monday, Wednesday and Friday all day classes are offered.  For additional information, please give the office a call or drop by the facility during business hours.

Children’s Corner Curriculum:
Hand Writing Without Tears  ( www.hwtears.com) is utilized across the facility. Becky Bailey’s Conscious Discipline ( www. consciousdiscipline.com) is the basis of Children’s Corner’s discipline policy.  Age appropriate curriculum consists of weekly themes that are correlated with Bible verses.
Teachers plan activities around the themes that will encourage development in social skills, math, science, reading and writing skills. Because children learn by doing we encourage the “hands on” learning approach. The learning center environment has always been at the core of each Children’s Corner classroom.

Children’s Corner Medication Policy

All medications including over the counter will be administered only with physician's note. The parent signs an authorization for center staff to administer each medication. Directions are recorded for the proper amount (dosage), including time and days medication is to be administered.

If a child has a chronic medical problem, the parent may sign a medication authorization for up to a six-month period for prescribed medication to be administered by staff as needed. The child's parents are notified whenever medication is administered.

Prescription medication is not administered unless the medication is a part of a prescribed therapeutic treatment Medication is provided by the parent in the original container and labeled with the child's full name. Staff administers medication according to the label or written doctor's directions and only to the child for whom it is intended.
